Fridge Cleaning: Freshen Your Appliance With White Vinegar

Your fridge is an essential part of your kitchen. Unfortunately, it’s also a perfect place for germs to grow and multiply—that’s not something you want to happen!

Do you want to know how to bring your fridge back in top shape? Follow these easy steps to wash your fridge effortlessly.

Step 1. Prepare a powerful vinegar solution

White vinegar has acidic qualities, which allow it to loosen up stuck-on grime and remove dirt. It can also clean any spill when you accidentally knock a glass or plate over.

To make this homemade cleaner fill a spray bottle with three parts water and one part vinegar and shake well. You can also use this solution to clean other appliances and surfaces in your kitchen and home!

Step 2. Empty the fridge

You’ll need to empty your fridge to make room for yourself; this way, you can reach everything down to the back walls of the refrigerator. First, put your groceries in a cooler to stop them from going bad while you clean.

Then, if your refrigerator has removable parts, take them out to get access to the walls and make cleaning more manageable.

Step 3. Clean the fridge

Spray the vinegar solution over the walls, racks, and removed parts from the fridge. Alternatively, you can spray some on a microfiber cloth if it’s easier for you.

Now, all you have to do is wipe away all the dirt and spills with a cloth. It is as easy as that! You won’t need to rinse the vinegar; however, if the smell bothers you, wipe it with a dry cloth to remove all the vinegar residue.

Not clean enough?

If your refrigerator still has stubborn grime, you can make a paste with water and baking soda: add enough water to the baking soda until you get a consistency like toothpaste. Then, apply the paste to the dirty spots, and after 10 minutes, wipe it away with a damp cloth.

Step 4. Put everything back in place

Once you’re done cleaning, it’s time to get everything back to where it belongs! Put the shelves back and fill the refrigerator again with your groceries—they should still be fresh since you stored them in the cooler!

Step 5. Clean the outside of your refrigerator

If you want to be done with everything regarding the refrigerator’s clean-up, what follows is to clean the outside of it.

To do this, you only need to spray the doors with the same cleaning solution and wipe the refrigerator—if it’s made of stainless steel, just follow the direction of the grain when wiping rather than making circular motions.
